I had an outstanding experience renting a motorcycle from the rental shop. From start to finish, everything was smooth, professional, and genuinely enjoyable. The booking was easy even though I gave them short notice. Communication was clear, and the owner was very helpful in answering questions and making sure I had everything I needed before heading out. When I picked up the motorbike, it was in excellent condition. The owner took the time to walk me through the motorbike and made sure I felt confident before hitting the road. What really stood out was how supportive and flexible they were throughout the rental. You can tell they truly care about riders having a great experience. Riding through the mountains, cloud forests, and countryside was one of the highlights of my entire trip, and having a reliable motorbike from a trustworthy company made all the difference. If you're considering renting a motorcycle in the area, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Professional, friendly, and passionate about what they do. I would absolutely rent from them again without hesitation. 10/10 experience. Highly recommended.

Best motorcycle rental ever! We rented 4x CFMoto 450 motorbikes in absolute top condition, super well maintained. Worldwide we’ve rented in many countries - never seen such perfect equipment and care! Airport pickup at night + handover at 11 PM, drop-off to hotel after return - amazing service! Fantastic route tips: beach sand riding, off-road, river crossings - pure adventure! Definitely coming back to explore Costa Rica again with Elephant Moto. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend this place for motorcycle rental. Easy communication via what’s app, nice motorcycles well maintained. I took a nice drive to blue falls and it was an amazing trip. I rented a 450 and it was more than enough for the roads in Costa Rica. Bike felt safe and handled wonderful. The owner Steven and all his staff were awesome to work with!

I went to Costa Rica for a 19-day moto excursion, scheduled to hit 8 cities across the country. It was high season and originally, another rental company, without notice, just canceled my reservation due to availability issues. Thank god I found the rental shop. The staff was quick to respond and able to accommodate me with a solid and reliable KLR 650 for my trip. The team are the best. This is no ordinary rental shop and I feel very lucky to have stumbled on them. The experience was personable, they were super friendly and accommodating. The moment I landed at the beautiful slice of heaven that is the rental shop I felt like I was at home. I took a red eye flight into San Jose and when I arrived, the staff invited me in and literally cooked me some eggs while we hung out for a beat and I decompressed. Unexpected greeting but very much appreciated after my long journey. They got me on the road with everything I needed and I was on my way. Early in my trip I was doing some heavy off-roading and dropped the motorbike, cracking the radiator. The staff met up with me right away and loaned me a badass transalp750 while they got the radiator replaced. A few days later, they rode to me in Puerto Viejo to swap the repaired KLR back to me. They never once threw their hands up and always made the effort to make my trip run smoothly. I felt very supported on my excursion, like I was doing the Baja 1000 and had my own support crew. Seriously though, I didn't feel like just another customer. I now have cool friends who own a moto rental shop in San Jose. Also they're a smaller underdog operation and I actually prefer to support hard working small business owners over the faceless giants who upsold me on a membership then screwed me over. Insane. Anyway, blessing in disguise. The rental shop for the win.

If you can book Sebastien at pura vida motorcycles on a personal motorcycle tour - do it. I had the best time - ever. I’m a brand new rider and Seb was phenomenal. He boosted my confidence with his calm, easy going personality. He’s loving, fun to be around - if you’re touring for 5 days together, you need someone fun to be with. The route he picked was amazing.. brilliant fun! The lodges he booked for each night were absolutely stellar. He seems to know everyone, everywhere.. people seem to love him. It was an absolute pleasure meeting and touring with him. He even got me to get the confidence on off-road riding… IN SLICK, WET terrain. I couldn’t believe how much attention he paid to me and my riding when he was leading the tour. He noticed every single thing I did and did not do. Absolutely the best in my limited experience. Love him and will be touring with him again.

Just returned to the states after a 7 day ride through Costa Rica with this company. We had a luxury guided tour with 2 guides. One to lead our group on a motorcycle and one to follow us on the support vehicle with our luggage and cold beverages. Sebastian and Enrique were on point the whole trip. The rides were timed out well with plenty of breaks to hydrate and relax a bit. The hotel they set up were amazing, and their overall service and attention to detail was great. They new the best routes, the best places to stop, the best restaurants. I recommend the highly, we will return to CR soon.

Sebastian was truly so helpful! Such a kind guy! The motorbike was so great! I rode the Honda CRF300 and it was so smooth! He even had tools for me to use and even offered a spare tube! I went on a trip with Pura Vita Moto last January. It was kind of a last-minute plan and Sebastian was already booked. Despite this, he made it happen anyway!! Thankfully so because we had the time of our lives! I can’t say enough how much fun we had! From the start, our guide Enrique picked us up at the airport and made us feel welcome. He made sure we were having fun and that we were taken care of. We did the south tour and booked the comfort package. The hotels were better than I expected. Also, the places Enrique took us to eat were exceptional!! The route was beautiful and we saw things we never would have found if we just traveled on our own. Having Enrique as a guide made the trip!! We did get the chance to ride with Sebastian towards the end of our tour. Both Enrique and Sebastian are top riders and can take you anywhere you would want to go. In addition they both are most gracious hosts and made me want to go back to Costa Rica! Gracias papito! Un gusto conoccerte!!

Esteban is a master class of how to be a motorcycle guide with such a motley crew of misfits and terrible riders (speaking for myself). Nothing could shake his professionalism or commitment to serve us while solving issue after issue. He is part medic, mechanic, counselor and most importantly, friend. No matter the issues like a wheel falling apart, me wrecking the motorbike coming down a gravel hill or motorcycle keys literally disappearing….he was patient, calm and always looked and found solutions. If looking for a motorcycle guide in Central America, PURA Vida and Esteban are the only way to go.

UPDATE July 2023: I have returned for another tour - of the south part of Costa Rica this time. 7 day tour and had an even better experience than the first round. May return again for a Panama tour in the future. ————————————————— Sébastien is a really interesting guy. I am a beginner motorcycle rider, and we have opposite personalities but share similar values about life. I made some mistakes but we tried to work on improving them together. For me the best part is that it did not feel like a formal tour but more like an adventure with a friend - or maybe the cool older brother I never had, haha!). If you're reading this Séb, I wish you all the best in life. Live long as possible and show more people what it means to be alive.

We contacted the rental shop in Costa Rica from the UK and asked them to organise us a bespoke trip around the sights of Costa Rica using their R1250GS. We were collected from the airport and taken to our first nights hotel. The following morning we were taken to the rental shop in Santa Ana, San Jose where we met a staff member who gave us some good advice and we packed our motorbike and began our adventure. The complete tour was organised by the rental shop who booked all the great hotels and all we had to do was ride. We would definitely recommend the rental shop if you are wanting to go on an Adventure of a lifetime, one to remember!

My guide Enrique was a professional. He was there for me at every turn going over and above my expectations. I rented a motorbike for three days after my tour was over and he rode with me after the tour as a friend. He showed me how to ride like a Costa Rican which I should soon forget or else I will be sitting in a USA jail LOL. I learned much about the culture and saw a country so beautiful I will be coming back. I could have just rented a motorbike and tried to navigate a foreign country by myself. I know I would have cheated myself if I had done that. I saw and learned so much more by taking the tour. Also, I came unprepared for terrain and type of riding we were doing. I had no idea the mountains were 10k high. Sebastian let me use some of his equipment at no charge. I dropped the motorbike I chose twice. The price he charged to repair it was more than fair. I switched motorbikes with my guide on the first day, from a klr 650 to a Royal Enfield Himalayan. The reason I say this is because Sebastian recommended the Enfield before the trip started and I didn't listen to him. I should have he is a professional and had I listened I may have avoided two falls and a repair bill! If you are from the eastern USA like myself you're going to be blown away by the mountains, roads and views you will see in Costa Rica. Their mountains are bigger, their roads are just as well maintained, the people I came across were genuinely nice, the weather was awesome, the food was spectacular, the girls were beautiful, the cops were not out to give tickets, the bathrooms were all cleaner than the USA public restrooms lol. I couldn't be happier with my trip or the touring company I chose to take me.

My motorbike ran and rode perfect, the roads he suggests are so great, and he gave riding tips i didn’t know (and i ride a lot). He’s got the best motorbikes and he’s got the best experience.

my girlfriend and i rented a motorbike from Sebastián for a month and had an exceptional experience. the product quality and customer service were ideal. we had a few maintenence issues as par for the course of riding a couple thousand kilometers over several weeks, but we got assistance sorting them out from Sebastián and his national network. we also rented safety equipment. i would definitely recommend and do it again.
