Is there a more underrated European destination than Croatia? Not in our book. Pula, a small town on the Istrian Peninsula, only strengthens those claims.
This is a town that has history, beauty, and nature in spades and also some of the cleanest beaches on the continent. You can get there by flying into Pula Airport or by getting a ferry to Pula Port. Once there, you’ll have a host of outstanding attractions just waiting to be explored, especially if you opt for a motorcycle hire or scooter hire.
Fans of Roman history will find plenty to enjoy by visiting the Arena. This is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. It was built in the 1st century and is in remarkable condition, in part because it was in use for nearly one thousand years.
You can see more of the Roman influence on the city by visiting the Forum, the city’s main square. If something of note is happening in Pula, it’ll be here. Other outstanding examples of Roman architecture include the Arch of the Sergii and the Temple of Augustus.
Get a scooter hire, and you can zip around these Roman wonders with ease. Round off the history part of your trip by visiting the Archaeology Museum. You’ll find plenty to love in Pula, but if you want to explore other places, there are plenty of those too!
Take your newly hired motorcycle, and visit the nearest towns and cities, including; Pazin, Gračišće, Cres, Labin, and Sveti Lovrec.
