Touching down at Zakynthos International Airport puts you within easy reach of the idyllic Greek island of Zakynthos. While your first instinct may be to head straight to the famed Shipwreck Beach, it's worth spending some time exploring the island first. Based in the lively beach resort town of Argassi, you can pick up a motorbike and hit the open road in search of adventure.
Argassi itself has plenty to keep you occupied. Spend an evening sampling local cuisine along the promenade or set out to hike up nearby Mount Skopos. With a motorbike rental you can easily zip along the coastal road to the famous blue caves at Cape Skinari.
Marvel at the stunning azure waters before continuing on to the white stone beaches of Banana Bay and Kampi Beach nearby. Venture further inland across olive groves and vineyards to reach the mountain villages of Exo Chora and Katastari. Soak up village life and admire the panoramic views.
Stop for a strong Greek coffee or to browse handmade crafts and souvenirs. Don't miss the chance to continue up the west coast to visit the shipwreck itself and stunning beaches like Porto Vromi and Porto Limnionas. With so much to explore, a motorbike rental is by far the best way to make the most of the island.
Zooming along cliffside roads overlooking impossibly blue waters is an experience not to be missed.
