Kolympia is a beach village with a laid-back and relaxed air about it. It is situated on the island of Rhodes, which is the largest island of the Dodecanese. Kolympia is set up for tourists with many attractions like pools, pas, and numerous hotels.
Its main feature is the stunning sandy beach which is nowhere near as populated as nearby towns such as Lindos and Rhodes town. For this reason, it makes for a perfect, peaceful, and sunny break away. If you want to make the most of this village and the surrounding areas a great thing to do is hire a motorcycle, hire a quad bike, or just rent a scooter.
It allows you to make the most of the coast and the freedom you get from zipping in and out of coves and bays whenever you like making it a very worthwhile adventure. Also, the village is only a 22kms ride to the capital Rhodes, an ancient city with plenty of historical roads that are not ideal for the modern motor car. Rhodes is not the only place to explore in the near vicinity too.
Archangelos is a great destination as it is buzzing with life, fantastic bespoke stores, and restaurants that offer genuine Greek seafood cuisine. You can even visit an olive oil factory while you are there. Also, why not visit the Byzantine-era Tsampika Monastery, which is only 3km from Kolympia and well with the visit.
Rhodes is a famous island and for a good reason and there are plenty more sightseeing adventure if you are willing to travel just that little bit further.
