Skala Kallonis is a town in Greece's third-largest island, the island of Lesvos, or as it is better known in English Lesbos. The town is pretty much central to the island as a whole, located on the edge of the Bay of Kalloni, a central feature of the island. Skala Kallonios is located just south of the town of Kalloni and is around 40kms away from the capital of the island, Mytilene.
Skala Kallonis is lauded for its charming harbor and fantastic seafood. The beaches on the Bay of Kalloni also make it a great destination choice. One of the best ways to nip about this town is by hiring a motorcycle for as little as 12 Euros a day.
The weather and the terrain make this the perfect way to travel, just zipping along the beaches and exploring the area. It is also great for getting out of the town and traveling to nearby locations like the main town of Kalloni, or the Ancient Temple of Messon, a little less than 13kms away. The small town of Agia Paraskevi Kallonis is also a quick ride away, and the are some great sights such as Ekklisia Agios Taxiarchis on top of the hill to see.
Not to mention the view of the island that accompanies it. If you have never been to a Greek Island before, the Skala Kallonis is a great choice. What with the food and the tropical way of life, you will not be found wanting.
