The City of Seven Hills has been at the forefront of Italian and Renaissance civilization for hundreds of years and her history stretches back thousands more. The Capital city of Italy is laden with treasures, cobbled streets, ancient churches and completely encompasses the Vatican city. Served by both Leonardo da Vinci airport and Fiumicino Airport both only 30 minutes from the city center, you have thousands of possible connections to make it here - and boy do you have to make it here.
Exploring Rome by scooter rental is hands down the most fun you’ll ever have, and if you don’t get yelled at by an Italian at least five times for your driving skills, you’re doing it wrong. Eat the best gelato in the world, let the strongest most divine coffee revive you, and eat homemade pasta and traditional dishes at one of the thousands of family-owned and operated restaurants all over the eternal city. The Colosseum, St. Peter’s Square, The Spanish Steps, and about a thousand historical sights, ruins, museums, and galleries too.
Rent a scooter and make the journey to the ancient port city of Civitavecchia. The hour-long bike ride will take you along some beautiful roads through some quaint villages and towns for a little taste of the peace and tranquility, just outside of Rome. Meanwhile ‘Civvi’ as it’s affectionately known, is a bustling port city with some cool restaurants, bars, and beaches.
Back in Rome, a nighttime drive through the city on a bike is a must, check out the catacombs for some goosebumps, and definitely take in a night tour of the Vatican City. Saluti!
