The Canary Islands are located off the northwest tip of Africa and belong to Spain. The archipelago of volcanic islands is known for its unusual black and white sand beaches made of ashes from historical eruptions. While you can drive around the Canary Islands, the best way to see them is on two wheels.
Motorbike hire and scooter hire are available from the islands’ many airports, including Tenerife North Airport, Tenerife South Airport, and Gran Canaria Airport. The Canary Islands attracts travelers from all over the world, thanks to its beautiful scenery and reputation for having the world’s best weather. The biggest land mass is Tenerife.
At the center of the island is the spectacular Mt. Teide, which is so tall, it sometimes has snow on top, despite its southerly latitude. The island also has its own observatory in the Teide National Park which dominates most of the available land area.
To the east, is the slightly smaller island of Gran Canaria. Here you’ll find places to visit, including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Parque natural Tamadaba, Pico de las Nieves, and Parque Natural de Pilancones. Other famous islands include Fuerteventura, La Gomera, and Lanzarote – well worth exploring in their own right.
If you love adventures, the Canary Islands are a great place to explore. The weather is fine for most of the year but, most importantly, it gives you a carefree motorcycling experience. If you go offroad, you might want to consider quad bike hire as it is an excellent way to get around.
