Arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport puts you right near the heart of Makati City in the Philippines. As the financial hub of the country, Makati has plenty of high-rise buildings, luxury hotels, and modern amenities alongside historic sites. The best way to get around this sprawling district is by renting your own set of wheels.
Whether you go for a scooter, motorcycle, or quad rental, you’ll have the freedom to see all that Makati has to offer. Start your tour by driving down Ayala Avenue, home to many multinational companies and the swanky Shangri-La hotel. Veer towards Greenbelt for some shopping and dining at the upscale mall complex.
Not far away is the Ayala Museum, an excellent introduction to Filipino heritage and history. Continue exploring Makati’s past at sites like the Yuchengco House museum and Japanese-era Fort Santiago. When you need a break, zip over to the inviting Legazpi and Salcedo weekend markets or relax in one of the city’s parks, like the Ayala Triangle Gardens.
At night, Makati comes alive with vibrant nightlife destinations. Drive along the busy Poblacion area to find hole-in-the-wall bars and local eateries. Or check out the classy cocktail lounges in San Lorenzo Village.
Beyond the borders of Makati, there’s plenty more to discover in the metro Manila area. Ride north to the artistic hub of Quezon City or down south to the historic district of Intramuros. With so many sights spread across the sprawling capital region, renting your own set of wheels is by far the best way to maximize your time exploring this fascinating city.
