Organized, professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and experienced. Our only regret is getting motorbikes for just one day! AA was fully booked for the rest of our trip or we would have done second day without a doubt.

I can't say enough good things about Emma and Cornelio at Alternate Adventures in Hopkins. I started corresponding with Emma in early 2020, as I was planning a trip back down to Belize. Then the pandemic hit, and those plans kept getting cancelled and rescheduled until finally, more than a year later, I was able to make my way to Hopkins. I rented a motorbike for a week, and it was the perfect way to explore the country. The motorbike was in great shape, and because of the good experience, I ended up buying a motorbike for myself. I bring it in to the shop to get it serviced. Last week, while servicing my motorbike, they found a dead iguana in my chaincase!! Through all of this, they have been nothing but pleasant and professional. I highly recommend renting a motorbike and supporting this great local business!

I took a trip through Mexico, Belize and Guatemala in May on my Adventure motorbike and one of those stops was Hopkins. I did some trails on my Adv but soon realized that my skill level could benefit from renting a smaller, lighter dirt motorbike with knobbie tires. Emma was awesome getting me the right motorbike as I am vertically challenged lol, the paperwork was minimal (the usual releases) and then we were off to some remote jungles in Dangriga. The motorbike was well maintained and there were zero issues with it, unlike many rental places around the globe. I highly recommend renting a dirt motorbike here even if you are on your own Adventure motorbike as they are fun, nimble and can take you places where your big heavy Adv might not be a good idea.

I spent a week on a solo ride in Belize. Emma the owner of Alternative Adventures and Crash Pad were exceptional form every aspect of my adventure. Emma helped me plan my adventure around Belize, gave me some great info, maps, cell phone, and confidence that let me ride with no worries. It was a great time and I would highly recommend anyone that has a motorcycle license and an adventurous spirit to try it as well. Belize is a great country filled with very friendly and gracious people. It has a ton to offer the adventure motorbike crowd. Emma, her place, and staff are world class!!! I will be back to do it again!

Alternate Adventures in Hopkins was the best experience I had in Belize. The motorcycle was a great way to see natural and historical sights across the country, especially in hard to access locations. The Crash Pad was clean and spacious and very welcome after a long day out adventuring. The service was amazing. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to attach a little adventure to their tropical vacation!

Alternate Adventures is one of the coolest places I’ve found on my travels! Emma, the owner, is wonderful, and has a wealth of knowledge about Belize which will help you plan the perfect adventure. Whether you want to ride to waterfalls, Mayan ruins, butterfly farms or cultural activities, she can point you in the right direction and give you great ideas. The motorbikes are excellently maintained, and they have a variety to chose from for taller or shorter riders alike. It’s the perfect way to see Belize and experience it more like a local on two wheels. I came here with my own motorcycle, and their knowledgeable mechanic was able to help me fix a few things, which was also great. Trying out the rental motorbikes, they were actually better suited to the local trails and roads (sometimes a little motorbike is much easier to handle!) I highly recommend this spot and will be back again

Wow talk about service! So easy to rent from Emma, the owner. She has thought of everything! From helmets and going over the motorbike with you to making sure you know your way around with a waterproof map and a flip phone in a waterproof case to take with you. The motorbikes are clean and well-maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our motorcycle rental and will be recommending this business to anyone visiting Hopkins!

Renting a motorcycle from Emma at Alternate Adventures was the best part of our trip to Hopkins Belize. Emma was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the local area. She recommended several waterfall hikes to us that were amazing. We had the waterfalls and swimming holes all to ourselves. It was great to break away from the regular tours and go off adventuring on our own. If you are going to Belize, make sure you have your motorcycle endorsement so you can rent a motorbike from Alternate Adventures.

Motorcycle Rentals and Alternative Adventures is a must do for any motorcycle enthusiasts visiting Belize. Emma was very helpful on suggesting places to visit. She runs a great business. Her motorbikes ran well and we had an absolute blast. Check out the Jaguar Preserve and the villages to the south. I’d love to come back and do a multi day trip! It was the highlight of the vacation.

As a US living Belizean, I love to tour the country and see what's new when I visit. Hopkins is my favorite beach community in Belize and Alternate Adventures and Emma are a big part of that! I'm a beginner enduro rider and Emma has enhanced my confidence with her meticulously maintained motorbikes and logistical services. She knows the country better than most locals and she can show you some incredible off the beaten track sites by motorbike if you her as a guide. This is a hidden gem in Belize and a great place to base all your Belizean adventures. Also there is a connected Moto hostel you can stay at. Highly recommend both.

Wow, highlight of our trip. Emma is very knowledgeable and directed us to the perfect half day tour. Headed up to the nature reserve and stopped by the chocolate place along the way. Even saw a jaguar!!!🐆 Zipping by tour buses that looked like it had miserable riders bumping and rocking the road. Motorbike rental is the way to go!

Excellent service. Easy to arrange a multi-week rental. Well maintained motorcycles. Emma, the charming and knowledgeable owner, provided lots of help planning an itinerary and suggesting off-the-beaten-path destinations. Getting to Hopkins via Dagringa was easy using Maya Air and a local taxi. Good hotels available in Hopkins. Emma also offers accommodations at Crash Pad, which is listed as a hostel, but is a step up with private rooms. The cycles available for rent are prefect for Belize. They are the same models the locals ride and will get pretty much anywhere in the country you care to ride. The motorbike itself proved a gateway to friendly conversations everywhere I stopped. Whether it's a day ride or a few weeks of exploring Belize back country roads, this should be your first stop. The web site's Rides page provides good information for planning a riding itinerary.

We recently went to Belize and ahead of time I found the most wonderful thing, Motorcycles! If you ride and miss your motorbike on vacation this is the perfect addition to your trip. You will love seeing Belize on the back of one of these great little motorbikes. It carried us 2 up with plenty of go, we had a great time. If you take Emma’s advice on places to go see you will not be disappointed. We were very happy with our experience at Alternate Adventures. We will be back!

After having digitally met Emma years prior, I finally was able to get a group of ladies to come out to Belize from USA to rent motorcycles and explore! Emma has an incredible space to rent that is linked to her motorcycle tour/bike shop. We rented the larger suite with a bunk bed and a main bed and then had another person renting the solo loft room. Both had their own equipped bathroom and a common area up on the top level with open air access and seating along with a mini kitchenette for your use. Emma took us on beautiful tours through her side of Belize. The trails weren’t terribly hard (as we had some beginner dirt bikers) and the motorcycles were very well maintained. She’s very knowledgeable about the areas and knows all the hidden gems! We had so much fun not only from the riding but from just hanging around Emma - she is such a vibrant personality and has stories for days! The small town felt safe and we walked it by ourselves at night with our group to find dinner or stop at convenience stores. There are healthy options and it is far from a tourist trap. You’re supporting a local, thriving economy. Emma also has more tours to choose from where you can ride further out and explore and stay in other towns. We definitely want to make the trek back to do that too! Would 10/10 recommend this trip whether solo or with a group! You’ll find a friend in Emma or if you want to solo explore, she will be sure to have amenities to make that you’re comfortable.

I rented a motorbike from alternate adventures at the last minute and they were so accommodating and helpful it was a very good experience. They helped me with the do's don'ts of riding all the way up to corozal and back.They supplied me with a map directing me on the best and safest route, gave a phone for emergency's and went through the motorbike thoroughly so there was no confusion on the operation of the motorbike. It was about a 5 hour ride and returning it the next day. It was a great adventure I got to ride through this beautiful country in a rare way I thought I would ever do but it was excellent. I never thought I would be doing that by myself in a strange country but they made it a fantastic experience. The motorbike was flawless and I had a great time, minusthe sore butt. I was worth it and would highly recommend if you want to go on a different adventure in Belize. This is the company and its friendly staff is highly is highly recommended if you want to do this sort of thing while your here in Belize. 5 Stars 🌟 and thank you 😁

I was in Hopkins in April where I rented a motorbike from Motorbike Rentals & Alternate Adventures. I has booked online and when I got there Emma was expecting me. She was fantastic we did the formalities then she showed me the motorbikes all of then were in excellent condition and clean. Emma then asked me what I was interested in and she produced a map and marked all of the points of interest Then she gave me a local cell phone in case I got lost or had a flat or something Wow !! who ever heard of that? My last day rained so I returned the motorbike and Emma gave me a credit for the day I cant say enough about this place and the professional way I was treated by a lovely beautiful happy soul Thank you Emma Five big Stars for you

Emma and her staff are wonderful. I had a tight timeline and a lot of activities to do, and she helped me see/do the coolest stuff and get some good riding in. The motorbikes are well-maintained and reliable. Emma will listen to you and give you tailored routes and tips based on your priorities. The Crash Pad Hostel is super nice too, clean and lovey. Seeing Belize by motorbike is the best way to get to the cool stuff, especially if you like a little diy adventure. Rent from Alternative Adventures... You won't be disappointed.

I would like to start off this review by saying Emma is top notch and one of the best people you could meet, in terms of someone who is compassionate in her business as well as customers. I have used her business numerous times as a repeat customer and will never use anyone else. I have read some of the more critical reviews and it upsets me to see people bash her business. First and foremost you are in Belize, do not expect a Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, etc.. as those cost entirely too much money to import. Emma’s motorbikes will get you to point A to point B any where in Belize comfortably. She does in fact have a Honda that stays rented out pretty regular so you might be lucky and snag it. ;) This business goes above and beyond to ensure the customer has the best time they possibly can and will always go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. I highly recommend 10/10 you use Emma and her staff for your motorbike rentals, seeing belize on motorbike is one of the best experiences you can have. As always be safe and ride on!

I spent a week renting a 250 dual sport from Alternate Adventures in Hopkins and it was my best adventure yet! Travelling around Belize by motorbike is the best way to see the country. Wether you want to travel to other towns or cities, or ride into the jungle to hike a waterfall or two, Emma will set you up on your own unique adventure! She has great recommendations for places to go and people to see. Her fleet of motorbikes are very well maintained and she'll send you out with a map and a Belizean cell phone just in case. I stayed in the adjacent Crash Pad hostel for a few nights and it was the perfect spot to come back to after a day of riding! There were a few other avid motorcyclists like myself staying while I was there, which made for an amazing atmosphere. The Crash Pad is new and spotless, and you'll love Emma's industrial/motorcycle design and decor as well as the clever use of space in the small rooms. The wifi and hot water worked great, and it's within walking distance of most of the shops and restaurants in Hopkins. I had an absolute blast thanks to Emma and her crew and I will be going back next time I visit Belize for sure!! Once again, thank you Emma for everything, you rock!!

Emma was super helpful setting me up for an amazing day trip. The rest of my family was snorkeling, but I'm not a great swimmer and missed being on a motorbike. Emma suggested Mayflower Bocawina National Park, which was great. It was really nice not to be part of a tour, and take photos at my leisure … I got some of the classic ND-filter waterfall shots, and later had a lot of fun just tooling around near the coast. Emma provides maps, a helmet, and cell phone, which is very considerate. The Honda 150XR had plenty of power for one person on nearby roads. The luggage case is very nice and pretty large, just make sure any sensitive equipment like cameras is secure because it will bounce around a lot on the dirt roads. Some retrospective tips: consider bringing your gloves and/or padded jacket for longer trips (I guess it's personal preference, I've fallen twice before and it's saved my elbows), for day trips, Mayflower Bocawina can be pretty hot and humid, so I wish I had shorts and more water along. Packing lunch would have saved some time going back to Hopkins. Anyway, I highly recommend this place, and hope I can be back for a week-long adventure at some point.

Vivian here from the rent me gang Oct. 2015, Congratulations on the new shop! I know it's been a while but you have been on my mind lately and so I had to reach out. Just wanted to thank you for giving me and Scott the Belize bug that made us trade in our cruisers for adventure motorbikes. All because you had the brave idea to start up shop that allows motorcyclist to explore Belize by motorbike. Scott is now on a BMW F700GS and I'm on a Yamaha XT250 and what a blast we are having! We wouldn't have made the switch without having the experience that you provided for us. We just regret not doing it sooner and don't think we'll ever go back to cruisers.

This experience was one of the highlights of our trip. We did most of what Emma suggested and were even able to get to the Saturday market in San Ignacio on the way out to Xunantunich (Papusas are my new favorite food). The Hummingbird Highway on a moto is incredible. Everything was very smooth and easy. Emma even offered to hold our bags for us, the cargo box was a life saver! Also, I can confirm that the top speed on the 250 is at least 65 mph and that was with two people on it. Gotta shift out of first gear!

We had a wonderful experience renting from Motorbike Rentals and Alternate Adventures. Emma was extremely helpful in planning our four day adventure, giving tips on what to see based on our interests. The motorbikes were in great shape and we had no issues with them despite driving a far distance. The shop provided us with a map that they marked with our destinations and they gave us a local phone to use in case of emergency. The motorbikes gave us the freedom to check out major destinations like Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, as well as dirt roads in Mayflower Bocawina National Park. We highly recommend Motorbike Rentals and Alternate Adventures for the perfect Belize experience.

They made my first time in Belize a trip that I will never forget or likely ever be able to replicate! If you are considering renting a motorcycle from Alternate Adventures, seriously just do it!! I highly recommend it. Initially I wasn't sure, because I had read conflicting experiences on forums about riding motorcycles in Belize, but we are so glad we did. We have experience riding, and were aware of our surroundings, didn't ride at night, and it was an extremely positive experience. We rode about 1000 miles or so just exploring! Other than the accommodations booked, I didn't really have too much of a game plan. Emma was so helpful with all of that, and took the time to show how to get there on the map and suggested various things to check out which my partner and I loved. We rented two motorbikes for a week. The pricing is very reasonable, the motorbikes are well maintained, there's rental gear as well such as helmets and bags. We really got to experience true Belize exploration by motorbike and there is nothing that compares!! Emma was so very helpful with coordinating things, providing information, useful tips, cool places to check out, & helping us plan a few things on our itinerary. I felt safe having borrowed a map and a cell phone in case of emergencies. We will definitely be back and very much looking forward to it. One of the best adventures I am grateful to have experienced.

Emma lead our group of 5 women on an epic guided motorcycle tour. She read our skill level and gradually increased the difficulty level all the while touching base to make sure we good. We saw secluded waterfalls, caves, jungle paths, rivers, swimming holes, bioluminescence swims, crocodiles, and so much more!!! Hopkins was amazing, the people are friendly and the food outstanding Don’t forget to go on a snorkelling tour to see nurse sharks, barracuda and sting rays….best trip ever!!! Thanks Emma!!!

You wouldn’t Belize how wonderful it was to travel around this country by motorcycle! Emma opened this business 10yrs ago after seeing Belize by motorcycle. Then discovered nobody rented, so she started the first and now only business that rents motorcycles. It was a pleasure renting from Emma as she’s knows the county well and will help map out a route depending on what your interested in. I felt like I only scratched the surface of Belize during my 9 days/1400km of riding. The cost to rent practically payed for itself with how easy it was to access remote areas that usually cost more than $100 to book a tour for. Most ruins are only $5 to get in, then you can just go eavesdrop on a tour. Also there are always bonus waterfalls and caves to see along the way, or Mayan villages to explore. The motorcycle was in great working order and a lot of the locals use her shop for maintenance and parts. She was always quick to get ahold if you ever needed anything. I look forward to the day I return to Belize to explore it deeper on a motorcycle again!!!

Emma is the best. We did 18 days in Belize, most with motorbikes, and she helped so much. Her knowledge of the country and awesome things to do is unparalleled. The ride to Caracol was unbelievably amazing, hard-ish for us 50 somethings, but totally worth it. The 4x4 tours take 3 hours to get there and we did it in under 2 hours with Emma's motorbikes. Her motorbikes are VERY well maintained. Go rent a motorbike, you won't regret it!!!

I just, ah! Words! I had such an excellent time renting a motorbike from Emma's place. The process was straightforward and Emma had thought of everything. You get a map and can ask for good routes to whatever destination you want. You can get a phone if you are traveling from outside Belize and need one for emergencies. There's a garage on site in case you dump the motorbike and it needs a fix (but you know, don't TRY to dump it). The location is great because it's near the beach but easy to get to the highway so you can travel further away. Emma's got a plethora of info on fun destinations and places to sightsee. Wonderful experience! 10/10.
