Excellent, recommended, superb, incredible hospitality and friendliness, an absolutely and throughly enjoyable experience. Enough about me, you wanna know should I or shouldn’t I? To rent from Don or elsewhere? Stop reading this and do it! Straightforward, no nonsense, the right gear, the right motorbike (GS1250R), the right location for escaping Cape Town and getting into the wondrous, sun baked lavish vine coated lower slopes and rugged granite formed mountains of Draakensberg, Bainskloof Pass (oh the joys) and beyond. These guys know what you want, know how to give it and deliver it without any BS. WYSIWYG (Google it) As Arnie was oft quoted “I’ll be back!” Safe riding! As the Afrikaaners don’t say, Buy-a-Donkey!

Brilliant experience using this rental company. Had the bmw for 2 weeks and rode everywhere. Paperwork made easy and hassle free. High quality helmets and other stuff you can rent. They easily transported the motorbike from joburg after my trip, the garden route is incredible. Highly recommended

The initial contact via the Internet was very friendly and helpful. The motorcycle handover in the morning went as agreed, with coffee afterwards - a great start! Thanks to the paperwork that had already been completed digitally, everything went relatively quickly. Great importance is attached to ensuring that the motorcycle is handed over in perfect condition. Everything is documented so that both sides are covered in the event of damage. I had no problems whatsoever with my Yamaha T700, and the return went absolutely smoothly. This makes motorcycling - or in this case, renting - really fun! :) I can absolutely recommend it!

We have enjoyed working with this company on our scooter rental. We rented a BMW scooter for one day, visited a huge number of beautiful places. The staff were very polite and helpful, selected the right size equipment and gave us a briefing. The deposit we paid before the trip was returned without problems and in full. I can 100% recommend this company to everyone for your travels on a rented motorbike.

From the moment I arrived at GS Africa in Cape Town I was treated like family! They were ready with my motorcycle and quickly, efficiently handled everything with total professionalism. Lee (Head of Rentals) is absolutely amazing and helped me with every detail of my adventure with such care and attention that GS Africa has my loyalty for my next motorcycle adventure in South Africa. My initial check in of the motorcycle was handled by No no (she was completely thorough with her work and got me ready for my trip in no time at all). The motorcycle was in impeccable shape and was a dream to drive (Harley-Davidson Softail Heritage Classic). Kiefer (another member of the GS Africa team in Cape Town) informed me that they had just put a brand new rear tire on the motorcycle (which gave me great piece of mind starting my journey). Lee supplied me with awesome routes to take me to some of the most beautiful and memorable places I have ever visited. I just can’t say thank you enough for making a dream come true!

It was really really nice to renting a motorbike at franks. The comunicación was such smooth. He always respond very quick and always found a solution if needed. Frank is just a very nice person who try to makes everything possible. It was i pleasure to meet frank and i am looking forward to meet him again. :)

I rented an R1250GSA for 5 days in February. I was unsure where I needed to collect the motorbike from Don but he was very accommodating and delivered the motorbike to my B&B the evening before the rental commenced. I planned to use my own clothing but my luggage did not arrive on the plane with me and did not arrive prior to the trip I planned. At the last minute I was able to obtain a helmet but I rented jacket, trousers, and gloves. Don does not usually hire boots but due to my predicament I believe he loaned me a pair of his own. The motorbike was in top condition as was the clothing which was a great fit and extremely comfortable for the weather here. Through the trip I needed advice from Don who was always available on the phone with answers. A screw found it’s way into the front tyre during the trip and we satisfactorily compromised on replacement after the motorbike was returned. At the conclusion of our trip once again Don was very accommodating about collecting it. My deposit was returned swiftly upon return of the motorbike. I can’t fault the motorbike or any of the equipment or any of the rental process. I would fully recommend Don and his equipment it was a good experience and an enjoyable trip. Yes a full 5 stars!

5 star bucket list experience! Seeing Cape Town on a motorbike is next level, and I felt safe the whole time in the expert hands of Dave as he pillioned me through Cape Town. Dave's knowledge of the Cape is a huge bonus, as is the beautiful Harleys at your disposal. Highly recommended and unique way to experience the Cape.

Don & Mechelle were extremely helpful in assisting us to plan our trip and didn’t seem remotely bothered by us pestering them with additional questions. They helped plan routes, gave reassurance about safety and security and gave us such a warm welcome. The motorbike was great and performed superbly and was exactly as described. They were also so helpful and patient on our return as we got changed before travelling to the airport. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and will certainly use them again on any return trip to Capetown.

A fabulous Vespa store owned by Penny Sterley who has years of successful experience in the motor industry and passion for customer service. The shop display of great selection of colorful scooters and merchandise to purchase. The coffee bar and delicious pannini quiche served is a treat. The option to rent or buy a scooter. The packaged excursions around the Western Cape on scenic tours is great concept. Vespa is certainly a way of Life.

Rented a BMW 310GS for a day. The staff were friendly and super efficient with everything. Bike was pretty much brand new. I also rented jacket and helmet, both were top quality and felt pretty new too. All in all a great day. I never had any emails about booking after picking up or deposit return but my waiver deposit arrived back on my card within a week.

We have rented the 1200 GS adventure for two days. It is a great motorbike in very good condition. Don gave us very nice routes to ride and practical advices. Don and Mechelle are very welcoming,pleasant and helpful people. We are looking forward to make a longer ride on the bmw 900.

I have an alarm issue with a 2011 HD vrod i bought from HD Cape Town, now they don't want to give me the pin to help me start the motorbike, i have to make arrangments to bring the motorbike to them! Ok they've helped me 2nd call. Great my motorbike starts!

Such a wonderful experience. I am an American coming to Cape Town for the first time and by Harley was the best way to see the country by far. All of my friends were asking for rides and wanting to experience the beautiful country by the view of a Harley. Dave was so helpful and accommodating. So grateful for this experience and anyone from the west visiting cape town for the first time wanting to ride a motorcycle, it was a no brainer. Never had any issues with breakdowns, thefts etc. Rode the Heritage and night train. Dave and company provided the best rides, roads and routes to enjoy. Thank you Makani and Dave. Will absolutely be recommending to my friends in the US who visit!

I already rented a motorcycle twice at this place and I will definitely come back. The machines at GS Africa are very well maintained and there is a lot of rides to choose from. Pricing is fair and the entire process transparent and very professional. The staff is just lovely. They’ll take best care of you and even plan you routes at your personal taste. I felt very welcome and the hospitality is just lovely… They also got a dog at the shop so that’s a bonus 🐕. Thank you for the great service and all the best 🥰.

I had an amazing experience with Makani Motorcycle Rental. Truly amazing! I reached out to Dave on the 29th of December with very little hope that the business would be open but to my surprise I got an email back saying they are open and the motorbike I want is available. Picked up the motorbike on the 31st and brought it back on the 1st of Jan, and there was Dave, available on a morning 1st of Jan. Unbelievable! Dave is passioned about his business and loves to share experiences. He even let me stroll around the shop to admire the beautiful motorbikes and put up with all my questions. Thank you, Dave! I will definitely come back.

This is a long overdue post. Our Harley went in for a service 2 months ago and was handled by Nicky/Nikki who was absolutely fantastic during the whole process. Bike was not in a good condition due to it standing for over a year. Nicky assured me it would be up and running after the service and true to her word it was. She kept me updated ALL THE TIME. 5 out of 5 stars for GS Africa! I spend a few days in capetown and discovered GS Africa by chance. Contact via whatsapp was quick n easy and so I endet up with a perfectly maintained BMW F850GS Trophy - I wish my motorbike at home was that good maintained! I did also rent a jacket and helmet for the weekend. the whole staff was super professional and very friendly and welcoming - from first contact during paperwork , fitting and when being introduced to the motorbike I had not ridden before. I can sure say that I will rent a motorbike here again as soon as I get the chance. Thanks to the GS team for having such an unforgettable weekend in RSA!
