Rented an excellent CB500X from Motorent at Christchurch. It went well, proving to be ideal for the roads on the south island and covered just over 1400 kms in 4 days. The motorbike was well prepared and the panniers gave me enough capacity. It would have been 5 stars but for the hired riding kit that wasn't as good as expected but I couldn't fault the cost of its hire.

Run out of a Honda dealership so you are getting properly serviced machines. All the gear and luggage you need. Extremely professional, friendly and well organised operation. Also I recommend the VStrom 650 as a nimble light motorbike that suits the conditions in NZ!

It was a pleasure to rent the Honda CB500X from Motorent.nz for a two-week tour across both the North and South Islands. The motorcycle was well-prepared and performed flawlessly, showing no signs of wear or issues throughout the journey. I conducted daily checks, but everything remained in excellent condition. Together with my son, who rode his own motorbike, we covered over 3,900 km from Auckland to Queenstown, traveling along both the eastern and western coasts—creating unforgettable memories. Danny, Donnna & Alex really took care of me for my motorbike tour of the South Island. The motorbike itself, a CB500X was extremely smooth and handled everything the South Island had to throw at me. Highly recommend Motorent if you are planning your own NZ motorbike trip.
