Arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport puts you right in the heart of Selangor, Malaysia's most populous state. The capital Kuala Lumpur offers plenty to explore, but just a short ride southwest is the city of Puchong, a quieter alternative with natural scenery. Renting a motorcycle, scooter, or quad bike allows you to easily traverse Puchong and its surroundings.
The laidback atmosphere of Puchong provides a relaxing change of pace from the bustle of KL. Cruise down broad avenues lined with tropical vegetation on your rented ride. Stop to snap some photos of the striking hillside temple of Wat Phodang Rangsi, dramatically perched above the city.
Continue on to Taman Tasik Puchong to paddle boat on the lake, have a picnic, and watch vibrant multicolored birds flutter overhead. Just outside the city, Serdang Hospital Park makes for a nice short excursion. Shady walking trails wind through this small forested area filled with wildlife.
Listen for the melodic calls of songbirds and keep an eye out for long-tailed macaques frolicking in the treetops. On the way back, grab lunch at the 17th Mile Seafood area before heading up to Bukit Cerakah for panoramic views over Puchong. As the sun sets, stop at the lively SS2 Night Market to try local treats like char kway teow and ais kacang, strolling between stalls selling everything from fresh produce to novelty gifts.
With scenic rural escapes just beyond the city limits, Puchong and its surroundings are best explored by two wheels. So rent a scooter or motorcycle and take the freedom to discover forests, lakes, viewpoints, temples, and more at your own pace.
