Andalusia is an autonomous region of Spain and best explored on a motorcycle. The area encompasses practically the entire southern tip of the country, including Seville and Granada. Historically, it was under Moorish rule from the 8th to the 15th centuries.
Over the following years, it became a part of Spain proper and integrated with the rest of the country. Andalusia, as you might expect, is home to many famous landmarks. These include the Alcazar Castle in Seville, and Cordona’s iconic Mezquita Mosque-Cathedral.
Being such a large area, Andalucia is served by five airports within the region itself, and a further four outside. These include Granada, Seville, Almeria, Murcia Corvera, Jerez, Gibraltar, Faro and Alicante. The region is a significant tourist magnet, attracting more than 15 million people each year.
There are so many things to do in Andalusia, you’re spoiled for choice. Motorcycle hire and scooter hire is available in most cities and large towns. Begin your adventure by heading to Seville.
Here you can gawp at the city’s UNESCO World Heritage cathedral, believed to be the third-largest anywhere and houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Next, motorcycle to Cordoba, an ancient Andalusia city. See the Mosque Cathedral and then go to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos – the residence of the Catholic kings.
Finally, as part of your city tour, head to Granada. Here you’ll find the Alhambra – a palace/fortress complex that plays host to nearly 10,000 tourists per day. You can also head to the coast where you will find many of Europe’s top beaches.
